The Long Night of Hallowmere is a pack of fourteen Halloween battle maps for D&D 5e and every virtual tabletop, tied together by one story that runs from the harvest festival at dusk to a witch’s bog before dawn. You get six locations, each drawn at more than one hour of the night, so your players can watch a pumpkin patch sprout something enormous, a churchyard empty its graves, and the village inn turn into a last stand. Every map comes gridded and gridless, sized for Roll20, and packed as a Universal VTT file with walls, doors and lights already placed. Run them as a three-session mini campaign, as a five-map one-shot, or drop any single map into the game you are already running.
One Night, Fourteen Halloween Battle Maps
Fifty years ago the villagers of Hallowmere dragged an old woman into the bog and held her under until the bubbles stopped. They buried an empty coffin, crossed her name out of the parish book and never spoke of it again. This Hallow’s Eve she has come back to collect, and every map in the pack is one stop on the night she chose to do it.
That is what makes this pack different from a folder of pretty maps. The locations change as the night goes on. The same churchyard you walk through at dusk is quiet at night and full of open graves at midnight. The inn where the harvest supper is served becomes the barricaded hold point of a zombie siege, and in the morning it is splintered doors and a very quiet street. Each version is its own map, so the scene your players remember is the one on the table in front of them.
The Six Locations
The Pumpkin Patch (3 maps)
A family farm at harvest time, the same field at night when the Great Pumpkin tears out of the ground with a glowing doorway in its side, and the smoking crater it leaves at dawn. Farmhouse, outbuildings, rows of pumpkins, scarecrows and lanterns throughout.
Inside the Great Pumpkin (1 map, 3 levels)
The dungeon of the pack: a flesh cavern inside the rind, a looping network of root tunnels, and a forgotten limestone catacomb at the bottom, laid out side by side on one 60 x 24 map.
The Corn Maze (3 maps)
A festival maze with a real route to the centre, dead ends and corner clearings. By day it is a children’s game. At night it belongs to a cult of candle rings and husk dolls. The third version is the maze on fire, built for a chase through burning corridors.
The Churchyard (3 maps)
A gravekeeper’s lodge by the lychgate, a weeping angel, crooked old graves and formal family plots, with a stream cutting off the mausoleum yard. See it at dusk, at night, and at midnight when the dead climb out and the mausoleum glows green.
The Last Call (3 maps)
A cobbled village street lined with shops and houses you can enter, ending at a full inn with a common room, kitchen, snug, cellar and walled yard. The dusk version hosts the harvest supper. The siege version has barricades, fire barrels and a horde coming down the street. The morning after shows what the night cost.
The Witch’s Cottage and Bog (1 map)
The finale. Black water under green fog, a rickety boardwalk, stepping stones, a half-sunk rowboat, a crooked cottage on a hummock, and islets holding a ritual circle, bone totems, a slime pool and a rusted gibbet cage.
Built for Every Virtual Tabletop
Every map comes as its own download with four files, so you only grab what you need:
- Gridded, 140 pixels per square for Foundry, Owlbear Rodeo or printing.
- Gridless, 140 pixels per square for any VTT that draws its own grid.
- Roll20 JPG, 70 pixels per square, sized under Roll20’s free upload limit.
- Universal VTT (.dd2vtt) for Foundry’s Universal Battlemap Importer and other VTTs, with walls, doors and lights already placed so line of sight works the moment you import.
Most maps are 40 x 30 squares. Inside the Great Pumpkin is 60 x 24 with its three levels side by side.
A Story Guide That Links Every Map
The pack includes The Long Night of Hallowmere story guide, as a printable PDF and as a clickable page that opens each map. It lays out the whole night for characters of 3rd to 5th level: the route from dusk to dawn, a story beat for every map, the villagers your players will meet, six story threads that are planted early and pay off late, a three-wave siege at the inn, and two endings, one of which is won without a fight.
- A three-session mini campaign using all fourteen maps.
- A five-map one-shot that runs from the harvest supper to the witch’s bog in a single evening.
- Standalone maps for your own game: a farm, a haunted graveyard, a village inn under siege, a hag’s lair.
